Healing Modalities and
Gardening Practices We Incorporate
Restorative Trauma Healing
and Council Practice
In addition to self-healing that organically happens through farming and working with the land, Green Arrow offers an array of healing modalities. These include breathwork, energy alignment/bodywork, animal therapy, group council (see below), art, music, and writing.
About Council: “For millennia humans have gathered in circles, warmed ourselves around a fire, and told our stories. Often there has been ritual involved, something that separates this practice from our frenetic daily lives and sets aside a time for speaking and listening from the heart…” Read Full Article or Watch the Film
Biodynamic Farming and Culinary Practices
Biodynamic farming practices regenerate the soil, create plant biodiversity, and produce high-quality food. This type of farming also prepares the land to adapt to climate change impacts such as drought, erosion, flooding, and temperature changes. We integrate kitchen, health, and cooking lessons to complete the circle - discovering where food comes from and how it supports our body.

Research suggests that the disconnect between our bodies and the soil leads to significant health and mental dysfunction. Reconnecting to the earth, soil, and nature can benefit how we think and improve our sense of well-being.
Staci K Hines in the Politics of Trauma says “Somatics is a holistic way to transform. It engages our thinking, feeling, sensing, and actions. Transformation, from a somatic view, means that the way we are, relate, and act become aligned with our visions and values - even under pressure. More than understanding and insight, it supports us in embodying new ways of being, aligned with a broader vision. Somatics is very effective in both healing trauma and embodying new skills for leadership, organization building, and social change.”
As We Grow…
Figuring out where we want to go in life is an important piece of feeling “whole” and living with purpose. We support participants in exploring what they love to do and how to make their passion a career. Life coaches will help participants to prepare for these new jobs and reentry through mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, and guest speakers.
“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.” - Bessel van der Kolk
At our center, an individualized curriculum will be developed focusing on each attendee and diving into their personal and professional needs. Each participant will be assigned a life coach whose responsibility will be to support them in identifying what they need, accessing the resources to meet those needs, evaluating their progress, and guiding their success in preparing to return to the community.
Green Arrow will have solid relationships with partners for employment opportunities upon completion of the program. The partners include mentors, recruiters, and corporations.
